Hector Lloris made a diving save on Petar Musa in the 6th minute of added time in the second half, recording LAFC’s third consecutive loss (3-0-0, 9 points). Lloris has kept five clean sheets, his 27th in 68 starts for LAFC.
LAFC has outscored its opponents 6-0 this season. A minute before time was called, Musa right-footed Hermann Johansson’s cross and Lloris rushed to his right and used both hands to block the shot.
FC Dallas (1-1-1, 4 points) was able to stay in the game behind excellent goalkeeping in Michael Collodi, who made five saves. Collodi’s performance included two big second-half stops on shots by LAFC star Denis Bouanga.
FC Dallas falls to 0-7-1 all-time when playing at LAFC. They were outscored 14-3 in that game.
Martinez broke the scoreless tie in the 55th minute of the first half by receiving a ball well beyond the penalty box and firing it with a left-footed laser. The blast landed in Collodi’s hand on its way to hitting the back of the net.
The goal was the 20-year-old Martinez’s second goal of the season. He has scored nine goals in 49 career MLS games.
LAFC had a chance to add another goal in the 70th minute when Buanga found the net, but his leaping right-footed shot was blocked by Collodi.
Buanga had another clear chance in the 79th minute, but Collodi blocked his close-range right-footed shot.
Dallas outshot Los Angeles 14-10, but LAFC held a 6-5 edge in shots on target.
In the 23rd minute of the first half, Buanga had a clear opportunity, but his right-footed shot was blocked by Collodi.
Five minutes later, Dallas’ Bernard Camungo fired a left-footed shot from outside the penalty box. Lloris was able to knock the shot over the top and over the net.
Son Heung-min had a chance for LAFC in the 44th minute of the second half, but his left-footed shot was blocked by Collodi.
Early in the second half, Musa sent a header into the net for FC Dallas.
