Mandatory Credit: Chris Jones-Imagn Images Tounde Yessoufou scored 26 points and Cameron Carr added 21 to lead Baylor to a 101-75 Big 12 win over Utah on Saturday in Waco, Texas.
The Bears (16-15, 6-12) shot 61.5% from the floor, including 8 of 18 3-pointers.
The Utes (10-21, 2-16) hit 60.4 percent of their shots from the floor but turned the ball over 16 times. They gave up 58 points in the paint and 15 on second-chance points. The Bears scored 31 points off turnovers while committing only 3s of their own.
Don McHenry led Utah with 20 points and 4 rebounds.
Yessoufou hit 10 of 16 shots and Carr made 9 of 13, including 3 of 5 3-pointers.
It was the fifth time this season that the Bears topped 100 points and the first time since they defeated Arlington Baptist 124-61 on Dec. 29.
Terrence Brown scored 16 points for the Utes and Keanu Dawes added 14. Down by 20 points at halftime, they never scored more than 17 points in the second half.
The Bears shot 67.7 percent in the first half and the Utes turned the ball over 10 times in the first half, trailing 53-33 at the break.
Yessoufou had 15 points and four rebounds, leading the Bears to up to 26 points.
Seydou Traore hit a 3-pointer for Utah to cut the Bears’ lead to 25-18 with 10:49 left in the half.
Baylor went on a 12-0 run to build a 19-point lead.
Yessoufou opened the game with a 3-pointer and Dan Skillings Jr. and Isaac Williams IV had back-to-back layups for a 32-18 lead with 9:02 left in the first half.
Caden Powell hit a pair of free throws and Yessoufou finished the game with a 3-point play.
Dawes finally stopped the run with a jumper, but Yessoufou took over from there.
He made two inside jumpers and a layup to cap the Bears’ eight-straight points and take a 43-25 lead with 5:26 left in the first half.
The Bears aren’t done yet. Skillings scored on a layup and a pair of free throws, Michael Rataj hit a jumper off a turnover and Carr capped a 10-0 run with a 5-footer to put Baylor up 51-25 with 3:37 left in the first half.
