At least 33 people, including a teenager, have been injured in a bombing at a nightclub in Peru.
The explosion occurred early Saturday morning at the Dolly nightclub in Trujillo, a province on Peru’s north coast.
The area has recently been affected by violence and crime.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible and the motive was unclear.
At least five of the injured are in critical condition, said Gerardo Florian Gomez, executive director of the Trujillo Health Network.
Some of those undergoing surgery require treatment for amputations and lacerations.
Among the injured were a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds, Mr. Gomez said.
Fiorella Mantilla, who was in the nightclub when the blast occurred, told reporters she had glassed in her legs and “sounded like the sound system had suddenly been turned off.”
