Adrian Wooley hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 18 seconds left as visiting Louisville defeated the 22nd-ranked Miami Hurricanes 92-89 in an ACC matchup in Coral Gables.

On Miami’s next possession after Woley’s shot, Tre Donaldson lost his balance and threw an errant pass that resulted in a turnover.

After two Louisville free throws, Donaldson hit a layup with 2 seconds left to cut the lead to 91-89.

Sananda Fru split a pair of free throws for the Cardinals. Trailing by three points, Miami’s Tru Washington hit a half-court shot that went off the backboard and off the rim. Nonetheless, the attempt was made after time had expired.

It was the regular season finale for both teams, and Miami (24-7, 13-5) tied for the most regular season wins in program history.

Louisville (22-9, 11-7) got double-digit scoring from Ryan Cornwell (24 points), Jevon Hadley (16 points), Woolley (15 points) and Isaac McNiwley (15 points).

Miami had its three-game winning streak snapped despite Donaldson’s 25 points and six assists.

It was Miami’s senior day, with Donaldson, Malik Renault (18 points) and Ernest Ude Jr. (8 points, 8 rebounds) receiving honors.

Hurricanes reserve Noam Dovrat had nine points while shooting 3-6 on 3-pointers. Over the past three games, he has gone 11-for-16 from deep.

Despite the loss, the Hurricanes still bounced back from a 7-24 campaign, making it one of the best stories of the season.

The Cardinals played without Mikel Brown Jr., who has missed his second straight game and 10th straight game this season with a back injury. Brown is Louisville’s second-leading scorer (18.2).

Louisville, which started 13-2, took an early advantage when Renaud returned to the bench after committing two fouls in the first two minutes.

Seven minutes later, with Miami trailing 21-10, coach Jai Lucas brought Renaud back in and the gamble paid off. Renault did not commit another foul for the rest of the first half and Miami closed the gap slightly with Louisville leading 46-37 at the break.

Cornwell led all first-half scorers with 18 points, including four 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes. Donaldson led Miami with 10 points on 5-for-9 shooting, but was 0-for-3 on 3-pointers.

Miami achieved a comeback victory by tying the score at 77-77 with Donaldson’s 3-pointer with 4 minutes and 20 seconds left in the second half. On Miami’s next possession, Donaldson drove the lane to give Miami its first lead of the second half, 79-78.

The game was close the rest of the way, but the Cardinals beat the Hurricanes for the third straight time in the last three seasons.
