Jim Courier is puzzled by Jannik Sinner’s Indian Wells Nike kit.

Tennis Channel commentator and former ATP player Jim Courier spent a few minutes on air Friday night talking about Jannik Sinner’s Indian Wells Nike kit.

Jannik Sinner’s Nike kit has come under a lot of scrutiny in recent months due to the unique color combinations he has worn. He said he thinks Nike is doing a good job recently, but that he and his team will have more input on colors and styles going forward.

It’s unclear if Indian Wells is the start of this collaborative effort, as Sinner’s color combination is very different from recent months. Although many people love the pink Nike sneakers and the combination of pink and white, Courier still had one criticism.

What Jim Courier Said

The Courier described his skin color as being very similar to Sinner’s. It is true that both of them have red hair and white skin. Jim Courier said he did not like the colors Sinner wore at the Australian Open. Pink is an improved color, but it’s not the most noticeable color for people with darker skin.

Jim Courier isn’t wrong, but the fact is that Sinner looks much better in pink. Before Indian Wells, he wore colors likened to food condiments.

Naomi Osaka continues to receive the best kit from Nike. Her custom leopard print kit and trainers were a hit.

Neither WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka nor ATP World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will receive the same customization as Osaka.

Nike’s tennis strategy has long been puzzling. With popular players like Taylor Fritz, Jack Draper, Frances Tiafoe, and most recently Emma Raducanu leaving the brand, it seems like a good time to reassess and invest in other stars that are with the brand, including Sabalenka, Alcaraz, Sinner, Amanda Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, Alex Eala, and Madison Keys.
