The NFL’s new league year is just around the corner. Teams must find ways to adhere to the limits.

Ward, drafted by the Browns in 2018, has been an elite presence in Cleveland’s secondary. He was the unquestioned leader in the locker room as well.
While the Browns aren’t in a position to make a major free agent move, Ward’s selfless restructuring helps them have some options. Ward isn’t going anywhere and is a fan favorite.
It also helps that Ward is only 28 years old, which means he has plenty of good football ahead of him. This makes him an easy candidate for Cleveland to propose a restructuring.
More: Joe Burrow should consider requesting a trade from Cincinnati Bengals.
The restructuring converts Ward’s $2.5 million base salary into a signing bonus. The Browns get immediate relief and Ward gets that cash first.

The Browns enter 2026 with many question marks. How will they perform after losing Jim Schwartz? Who is QB1?
One thing is certain. Ward is willing to step up for the team in any way possible.
