Spain’s Jon Rahm, Harold Varner III and Belgium’s Thomas Detry are tied for the lead at 17 under par heading into Sunday’s final round at LIV Golf Hong Kong.

Belgium’s Thomas Pieters, joint leader after 36 holes, South Africa’s Dean Burmester and Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz were two strokes behind after the third round at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling on Saturday.

Pieters entered contention with a 61, his low round of the day.

Rahm, seeking his first LIV Golf individual victory since 2024, shot a 5-under 65.

“We have to keep competing and give ourselves a chance,” said Lahm, who began the 2026 season with back-to-back runner-up finishes. “As long as I do that, I play good golf, take advantage of the opportunities I get, and they will come. I’m playing solid golf, so hopefully I can have a good Sunday tomorrow and get the job done.”

Detri, who shot a 4-under 66 on Saturday, is trying to beat the man who helped get him into the tournament.

Detri was one of seven LIV golfers stranded in the United Arab Emirates after the US and Israel carried out attacks against Iran last weekend. Rahm helped arrange a charter flight to take them all to Hong Kong.

“Well, I don’t think I would be here if it wasn’t for him.” Detry said. “It’s kind of funny that way. But listen, we’re both competitors and he’s done it for his teammates. He’s done it for the league. It’s amazing what he’s done. And he’s a good friend of mine too. We’ve played a lot of golf together as juniors and on the PGA Tour and now here and there. I think we’ll have a nice competitive round tomorrow, and we’ll see who wins.”

Varner shot a 7-under 63 to top the leaderboard behind Rahm and Detry.

Ortiz and Burmester both shot 1-under 69s for the round, which embarrassed Burmester.

“I’m devastated,” Burmester said after the round. “Honestly, I don’t think I did too much wrong. I think I tried a little too hard. I don’t know. I hit a great golf shot out there. I hit a bad shot, probably on the wrong hole. I hit a great shot. I didn’t make bogey, and I didn’t make any putts. I’ll just have to figure out a way to feel better tomorrow and try that.”

In the team event, Smash GC is two strokes ahead of 4Aces GC, with Rahm’s Legion XIII three strokes behind the leaders.
