Crypto industry leaders are studying US President Donald Trump’s national cybercrime strategy after it was released on Friday, looking for clues about how it might signal support for the government’s crypto industry.
“Crypto and blockchain are clearly referred to as technologies to be ‘secured and protected.’ This is the first U.S. cyber security strategy,” Galaxy Digital’s head of global research, Alex Thorne, said in an X post on Friday.
Crypto and blockchain are mentioned once in the six-page report:
“We build secure technologies and supply chains that protect user privacy from design to deployment, including security support for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies.”
However, industry leaders are also interpreting other parts of the document to see how they relate to crypto.

Thorne pointed to a section that pledged to “root out the criminal infrastructure and deny financial and safe haven exits.” “This language could easily justify insults to mixers, privacy coins and unregulated edges,” he said.
Bitcoin VC notes that quantum is taken “seriously”.
Castle Island Ventures founder Nick Carter, who has recently expressed concern about the threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin (BTC), pointed to the sector as the government “accelerates the modernization, protection and resilience of federal information systems by implementing best practices in cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, cloud and zero-emission architecture.”
“Certainly looks like they’re taking quantum seriously. Nothing to worry about, I’m sure,” Carter said in X’s post.
This comes as the crypto industry continues to debate how close quantum computing is to a serious threat to Bitcoin. On February 15, Carter said that major bitcoin custodians may eventually lose patience with bitcoin developers to address quantum computing concerns quickly enough.
Trump points to the next generation as a priority
Trump said that National Cyber Security is setting its priorities to “ensure that America remains unique in cyberspace.” Artificial intelligence was a major part of the report.
“We will protect our AI technology stack — including our data centers — and drive innovation in AI security,” he said.

Trump also emphasized the importance of recruiting the next generation of workers in the cyber workforce to “design and implement cyber technologies and solutions.”
The US typically publishes a national cybersecurity strategy for each administration, which outlines the government’s priorities for new technologies.
