The NFL’s new league year is upon us and teams will soon be able to sign free agents. Many free agents will find new homes rather quickly in 2026.

The Minnesota Vikings are leading the Kyler Murray 2026 sweepstakes, according to a report. Murray’s interest makes sense given that the Vikings are loaded with weapons.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (1) chats with teammates before a game against the Tennessee Titans at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Oct. 5, 2025.
Not only are they loaded with playmakers, but Kevin O’Connell helped revitalize the career of Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold. Darnold played for the Vikings in 2024 and earned a big salary during the 2025 free agency period.
Murray will likely have to compete with JJ McCarthy for the starting role. But McCarthy was very disappointed.

According to reports, the Vikings are considering washing their hands of McCarthy entirely. Still, it makes more sense than not to expect any kind of competition from the Twin Cities.

Murray is a polarizing quarterback figure in the NFL. There’s no denying his talent. He has incredible mobility and great arm talent.
The issues surrounding Murray have been questions about his commitment to the game and of course his height. Whether this is fair or not is open to debate for everyone. But they still surround the quarterback.
One thing is for sure: Murray is an absolute upgrade over McCarthy.
