5 NFL free agency predictions that could still happen

NFL free agency has been in a frenzy since the league’s legal tampering period opened on Monday.

High-profile free agents, including Malik Willis and Trey Hendrickson, switched teams, while others, like Indianapolis Colts superstar wide receiver Alec Pierce, decided to return.

Even after so many moves, there are still plenty of free agents left.

Let’s make a bold prediction about where the top remaining unsigned players will sign.

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

This means everything for both sides at this point. One of the reasons the Steelers hired Mike McCarthy seemed to be to bring back the 42-year-old quarterback for another season.

Rodgers wasn’t the reason the Steelers were eliminated from the postseason. One more look back would probably be an acknowledgment that Pittsburgh is stuck in neutral, but that may be their only move.

Kyler Murray, QB, Minnesota Vikings

This is my last “no” prediction before I get serious.

Are the Vikings really ready to give up on JJ McCarthy? That’s the signal that signing Kyler Murray could potentially signal. Murray, who was released by the Arizona Cardinals, is reportedly considering what his future will look like in 2027.

It would be foolish for the Vikings to waste their stud receiving duo of Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. I feel like it will be over at this point.

Tyreek Hill, WR, Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens feel like the big villains of the 2026 offseason after opting out of the Maxx Crosby trade. So why not lean into it?

The Kansas City Chiefs would also be a fit for Hill, but they haven’t been overly motivated to do so. The Ravens chose Lamar Jackson over John Harbaugh despite the quarterback showing signs of regression last year. Baltimore may try to shove all its chips into the middle of the table. Otherwise, it could be a costly decision.

Rashid Walker, OL, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry has made significant efforts to repair the team’s offensive line.
Even after restructuring Deshaun Watson’s deal, the Browns still have enough cap space to add Walker. This would give the Browns the ability to draft the No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL Draft along with the No. 6 overall selection. This is another big need of theirs offensively.

Stefon Diggs, WR, New England Patriots

How bizarre is this?

The Patriots released Diggs prior to free agency, but New England CEO Eliot Wolf “didn’t close the door” on reuniting with the veteran wideout.

New England added Romeo Dubs as a free agent. But what else? They struck out several other top wide receivers in free agency and still want to surround Drake Maye with talented pass catchers on his rookie contract.
